How Plenty of Fish works now
Use Meet Me to Like profiles and create mutual matches, then message those matches without paying. Search and Discover offer additional browsing. First Contacts let a member message someone before a mutual match, but free allowances are limited and a profile image is required. Extra First Contacts may be purchased; Prestige lists unlimited First Contacts.
POF removes messages older than 30 days and displays a limited conversation history. If a conversation matters, do not assume the platform is permanent storage. More importantly, do not move off-platform so quickly that basic scam and consistency checks disappear.

Privacy, billing, and account exit
POF is a Match Group service. Safe Message Filters use automated systems and trained reviewers to identify harmful or illegal interactions, and POF says interactions may help evaluate and improve those tools. Treat chats as monitored platform spaces, not private vaults.
Deleting the account permanently removes photos, chats, Likes, and Matches, but does not end a paid subscription. Cancel through Apple, Google, or POF.com first. Removing a stored card also does not cancel renewal.
